Case. Manufacturers and industry. Technical video for machinery

A machine, from CAD to video.

A manufacturer hands over the CAD of a machine and gets back an exploded-view and assembly video with chapters, for sales and for training. Here, on an open-source compressed earth block press: eight subassemblies that come apart and back together in 72 seconds.

Eight, one per subassembly
The block press assembled, in the studio
  1. The machine assembled, seen from the front

    The CAD as it arrives

A FreeCAD file with eight subassemblies: frame, arms, two hydraulic cylinders, pressing drawer, seat, hopper and block crate. It is opened headless, the dimensions are checked (1.9 × 2.0 × 2.3 m) and every part is exported.

  2. The machine assembled and exploded
    AssembledExploded

    Assembled and exploded

Painted steel, bare steel and galvanised materials, a studio with three-point light and an orbiting camera. Each subassembly has its own way out; the frame stays put as the reference. Drag to compare.

  3. The hopper and its seat on the frame
The main cylinder and the pressing drawer

    The details a catalogue sells

The same parts up close: the hopper and its seat, the cylinders and the drawer. Stills at 2560 pixels, ready for the data sheet and the manufacturer website.

  4. 0:00 / 1:12

    The video with chapters

One continuous 72-second shot: the machine assembled, block crate, hopper and seat, pressing drawer, hydraulic cylinders, arms and frame, everything apart, assembly. On the manufacturer website it would carry the chapters as an index, like the walkthrough of the flat.
